Help Page - Current Conditions at our Major Terminals
Our Current Conditions at-a-glance Page contains dynamic information regarding
traffic at
BC Ferries’ major terminals.
Each major terminal has its own Current Conditions table and each table
includes information on specific routes. For example, inside the Tsawwassen
table
there is information for Tsawwassen to Duke Point and Tsawwassen to Swartz
Bay. In
the Swartz Bay table you’ll see information for Swartz Bay to Fulford
Harbour and Swartz Bay to Tsawwassen. And so on for all terminals listed
on the page.
Opposite the Terminal Name, the date and time of the last update will
appear. The page is set to refresh automatically, but it’s always
a good idea to check when the last update was posted. If it looks old,
click "Refresh" on
your browser.
Under "Route", you’ll see the name of
the individual route(s) for which Current Conditions information
is available.
Under Next Sailing, you'll see the time of the next scheduled departure
for the route indicated. Under this, a number shows how full this sailing
is as of the most recently posted update. For example, if you see "80%
Full", you know that 20% of the vessel's capacity is still available.
(Might be time to make a reservation!)
Under Car Waits, a number shows how
long drivers of non-reserved vehicles up to 7 feet high can expect
to wait. For example, if
you see a "0" under
Car Waits, it means cars arriving at the terminal at the time
of the update will board the next scheduled sailing. If you see
a "1",
cars arriving at the terminal will not board the next sailing,
but will be loaded onto the
one after that. If you see "POSS", it won’t
be long before a 1 sailing wait is posted.
Under Oversize Waits,
a number shows how long drivers of non-reserved
vehicles over 7 feet high can expect to wait. Again, this applies
to vehicles arriving
at the terminal at the time of the posted update.
NOTE: Conditions
at our major terminals can change rapidly. If you check this information
from your home computer, keep in mind
that
conditions are likely
to be different once you arrive at the terminal, especially
on weekends and over the summer months.
Under Later Sailings, you'll see departure times for up
to five upcoming sailings scheduled for today's date. You may also see "More >>",
which links to the Sailing Details page for the route
Under Depart, Arrive, you’ll see: symbol. Click on this image
to view today's actual departure times from our major route terminals.
Under Service Notices, you may see a red
symbol.
Click on it to access service notices posted for this route. If the symbol
appears
in grey,
there are no
notices currently posted.
Under Sailing Details, click on the link
to view more information regarding upcoming sailings.
In the Important
Service Notices box, you’ll find links to notices
posted for all routes in the
BC Ferries system. If there is a service interruption
on one of our routes, or a circumstance that customers
should
be aware
of
as they
plan their
travels, a Service Notice will be issued and a link
to it will be posted here – just
click on the Route Name for more information. This
section is updated as events occur so it's a good idea
to check back often. You can link to it from the "Service
Notices" shortcut at the top of the Current Conditions
page.
Additional Notes
Early in the morning (5:00 to 6:00 am) you may see "?" values
appearing for a route. This means the terminal has not yet reported in.
Please be patient;
this should change shortly.
